Things Never to Spend a Small Fortune On
Do not over spend on the small things.

When it comes to design, throwing money at a project never hurts. But it’s far more impressed when people actually don't spend a small fortune on a room. So here is a laundry list of stuff not to go for broke on, because, there's no reason to.
Candles - You want those pretty Diptyque and Le Labo vessels in your shelfies. But if you light candles a lot or want to put a bunch throughout your home, you probably have no business spending $60+ on every one that you buy. Maybe splurge on a designer candle for your coffee table (or your bathtub area), and everywhere else, stick to less expensive ones. Candles are the perfect accent to instantly change the mood of any room.
Plants - So you're not getting a fiddle leaf fig or a big fern for a ten spot. But a couple of small succulents for your desk or windowsill? Definitely. Plants make a huge impact for not a ton of money.
Wine Glasses - They always inevitably get broken, and you don't want to feel precious about expensive ones when entertaining. Plus, the great thing is, you don't need to splurge in order to get ones that feel and look great. So maybe rethink the crystal and head straight to less expensive glass so if you break one, it's not a huge deal to replace it.
Simple Vases - Come to think of it, why bother buying expensive basic vases? Never spend more on super simple vases for flowers. Statement vases are a different story, but when just showcasing flowers or some nice greenery, a clear vase that doesn't draw attention or take away from the arrangement. You can hoard a few of these from floral arrangements you've been sent, if you have the space. Otherwise, hit up your local flower market, craft store or even dollar store for these.
Fresh Flowers - Don’t break the bank for bouquets either. Nothing is more refreshing than having fresh flowers in your home. Rather than going to a florist, go to your local supermarket and get a fresh bouquet of flowers. During the summer, you can also get gorgeous cut flowers at your local farmers markets.
Dinner Napkins, Table Linens, Glassware, Chargers, Placemats - Yep, you heard it here. The way to amass a collection of great dinner party accessories is to buy them at flea markets and tag sales. Don’t worry your table settings being mismatched just remember to keep them related by color and pattern. That’s how you can has a vast array to keep churning out such inspired table settings. Learn it, live it, love it.
Hardware - If you're making over a kitchen cabinets, a bathroom vanity or a hand-me-down dresser, find fun, funky and unique hardware to add personality. Check out the clearance binds at your local big box hardware stores or check out your local charity shop. You’ll be surprised at how stylish and affordable some hardware can be.
Pillow Inserts - Swapping out pillows can add instant upgrade to you room design. If you have already invested in down filled pillows reuse those inserts and just have new covers made. Remember, down inserts are a big expense in new pillows.
